We noticed a discrepancy between SAE J1979-2 and US CA Title 13 CCR 1968.2 regarding NRC$78 usage for service $14.
- SAE J1979-2 says Multiple negative response messages (NRC$78) allowed within a maximum window of time until a positive response is required.
- US CA Title 13 CCR 1968.2 explicitly mentions "If the OBD II system responds with NRC $78 in response to a functional or physical request message from a scan tool for Service $14, the OBD II
system may not respond more than once with NRC $78.
Request would be to discuss and clarify this topic in the next Taskforce meeting.
